Love God Love People | November Mexico Trip 2009
November proved to be another great trip for LGLP in Puerto Penasco. We had a wide variety of churches represented by this months trip, which led to a lot of new relationships being formed within our group of volunteers. We also were short handed as several of our leaders weren’t able to attend. A special thanks goes out to everyone for putting in the extra effort to make sure everything still got done. Including a few all-star newbies who used their Spanish to help out throughout the day and even lead components of the kids ministry (see pictures below of the group teaching the kids songs in Spanish).
Our projects were constant with our normal routine which is based around three primary ministries. Kids ministry, construction ministry, and food ministry. All three focus on the relational aspect of engaging the families and individuals we work with. On the construction site the team was able to finish up a project that started last month, an additional room for three young girls who previously shared a room with their brother and father. Meanwhile, the kids ministry was focused around the theme of Jesus being a light to the world. Along with songs and crafts, the kids ate lunch and learned through a story and lesson plan. Finally in the afternoon we passed out roughly 100 bags of food to families in the invasion area, home to some of the most vulnerable of families (see pic below).
It was a great trip, and one in which a lot of blessings came out. We focused on two passages of scripture throughout the weekend: Matthew 5:14 and John 3:16-21, both of which kept our minds focused on our role in living out the Kingdom in tangible ways. Thanks again to everyone for your hard work! For those of you who would like to join us, our next trip is December 11th-13th!
