Prezi | Highlands Rwanda Project Overview

Thursday, September 10th, 2009

While I was in Seattle on the way back from Rwanda I had the privilege of staying with the Malouf family. One of the many, many benefits of my time there was that I got to learn about all kind of cool websites and programs that David had found. One of them is a presentation tool called Prezi. It is a very simple software program that allows for a lot of creativity in how you present materials to people. Upon returning Phoenix I used the software to create a basic overview of the Highlands Project and what I was working on in my time in Rwanda. Below is the presentation. To view it simply press the next arrow (looks like a play button) and the presentation will navigate you through the different sections. Hope you like it.

The Fall | Movie Recommendation

Thursday, September 10th, 2009

I’ll keep this short and sweet. The Fall is a movie I originally saw while in Rwanda at an ex-pat movie night. It is an incredibly unique film with great depth to it’s story. In addition it’s probably the most beautiful and stunning visual presentation I’ve ever seen in a film. It’s filmed in 16 different countries on multiple continents. As far as the plot, all I can say is it’s really a story within a story that seems to have relevance to most stories. The trailer is below, if you ever are looking for a great movie to rent I’d definitely check this one out!

Attention Men | The Art of Manliness

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

Men I have a couple questions for you. Do you know how to tie a strong knot? How about grilling up a good burger? Can you kick down a door should you need to?

Today I stumbled upon The Art of Manliness, a blog dedicated to the lost art of being a man. With pages such as Dress & Groom, Money & Career, Manly Skills, and Relationships & Family, this blog goes all out to resurrect the lost art of what it means to be a man. Using examples from yesterday, and old trades of the past, this site is full of information ranging from amusing and entertaining, to the most practical of “man knowledge”.

Like I said I just came across the blog today and am still exploring, but thus far it looks to be a winner!
