I want to thank Steve Capobres for inviting me to attend this years summit hosted by “The Collaboration for a New Century.” Steve is the Executive Director for this organization and it was great to see what there focus is and how they are engaging the community.

The basics of it are this: the organization partners together business professionals with effective nonprofits with a common goal in mind. Sometimes these teams of business professionals bring expertise in marketing, other times it is in raising funds. The bigger picture is that this organization is uniting communities (Faith, Nonprofit, Education and Business) in an effort to more effectively serve the community.

This idea of collaboration seems to be gaining more and more momentum in the nonprofit realm, and with good reason. In the current economic climate it is more important than ever for organizations to align their actions with their strength an then to collaborate with other organizations doing the same, until, ultimately the result is more effective and the community is better served.

This organization is doing a great job trying to bring that concept to life.
